IIEST Shibpur Signs MoU with TCS to Set Up Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence

• Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on September 22, 2026 to set up a Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence on its Kolkata campus.
• The on-campus high-performance Computing Lab of the Electrical Engineering Department has been designated as the physical venue for the Centre of Excellence.
• The MoU signing took place in the presence of Prof V M S R Murthy, Director of IIEST, Shibpur, and senior officials of TCS.
• The Centre of Excellence is aligned with the Digital India and Viksit Bharat 2047 frameworks and will focus on skill development, industry-recognised training, professional certifications, hands-on projects, and internships.
• TCS, as the knowledge partner, will support applied research in Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Image Processing, and Advanced Data Analytics, and enable students across disciplines to complete TCS internships under joint faculty and industry supervision.
