Jaishankar Signs UN Cybercrime Convention and Holds Key Meetings During UNGA81 in New York

• External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar signed the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York, stating it strengthens international cooperation for a safer digital future.
• Jaishankar met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of UNGA81, where they exchanged views on ongoing issues and reviewed India-Russia bilateral ties and BRICS cooperation.
• Jaishankar co-chaired the India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Troika Ministerial Meeting in New York, which reviewed the progress of the India-GCC Joint Action Plan 2024-28.
• India welcomed the launch of India-GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, with partnership expansion planned in trade, investment, energy, food security, health, new technologies, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
