Telangana Police Refund ₹139.68 Crore to 24,189 Cyber Fraud Victims in 2026

• Telangana Police, through the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), facilitated refunds of ₹139.68 crore to 24,189 cyber fraud victims in 2026 so far, using the Lok Adalat and Money Restoration Module (MRM) mechanisms.
• During the recent National Lok Adalat, TGCSB with the Telangana State Legal Services Authority, banks and payment providers facilitated ₹42.28 crore in refunds to 3,896 victims, with Cyberabad topping the list at ₹14.19 crore to 942 victims.
• The MRM, launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs in May 2026 and operational in Telangana since June, enables fund restoration without court orders; as of September 12, ₹27.23 crore had been refunded to 9,355 victims through it.
• Since its inception, the TGCSB has facilitated refunds of ₹514.93 crore to 73,204 cybercrime victims.
• Victims were advised to report fraud promptly via the 1930 Cyber Helpline or the national cybercrime reporting portal, as reporting during the 'Golden Hour' improves chances of freezing and recovering funds.
