Senior IAS Officer Mandeep K Bhandari Takes Over as Central Board of Secondary Education Chairperson

• Senior IAS officer Mandeep K Bhandari has been appointed chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approving his appointment.
• Bhandari is a 2001 batch IAS officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre and was serving as Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
• Before Bhandari, Lokhande Prashant Sitaram held additional charge of the CBSE chairperson post; he was appointed Additional Secretary in the Union Home Ministry on July 2 and had been made CBSE chief on June 2 after the incumbent was shunted out amid the On-Screen Marking system row.
• In the same bureaucratic reshuffle, Vipin Kumar, Chairman of the Airports Authority of India, was named Additional Secretary, Department of Rural Development, and Srikant Nagulapalli, Director General of Hydrocarbons, was moved as Additional Secretary, Department of Expenditure.
• V Ponnuraj, a 2000 batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre, was appointed Director General of Hydrocarbons in place of Srikant Nagulapalli.
