Amit Shah Opens 3rd National Anti-Narcotics Task Force Conference in New Delhi, Pledges to End Drug Trade by December 31, 2029

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 3rd National Conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Heads of States and Union Territories in New Delhi on September 22, 2026.
• Amit Shah set December 31, 2029 as the deadline to uproot the drug trade from India.
• A Vision Document 2026-2029 was prepared after discussions with more than 35 departments, fixing targets and timelines against the drug menace.
• Under the Vision Document's target of 1 lakh Nashamukt Mitras, 46,780 have been registered by various ministries and are operational.
• Nashamukt Mitras will visit 10 lakh schools, colleges, and institutions across the country to caution youth and sensitise campus directors.
• Shah highlighted emerging challenges including synthetic drugs, precursor chemical diversion, dark-net drug markets, crypto payments, dead-drop delivery systems, and international drug networks, and suggested an out-of-the-box officers' team in every state.
• Shah stressed moving beyond a seizure-centric approach to dismantling entire networks through backward-forward investigation, financial investigation, and tracing digital links.
