Key facts
- Union Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal launched the National Strategic Trade Command Centre (NSTCC) at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, on 15 October 2026, in the presence of Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal and DGFT Director General Lav Agarwal.
- NSTCC was developed by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to strengthen monitoring, analysis and governance of India's international trade through integrated data analytics and evidence-based decision-making.
- In its initial phase, NSTCC brings together dashboards covering key DGFT functions including Importer Exporter Code (IEC), Advance Authorisation, Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG), Certificate of Origin (CoO), SCOMET, and restricted imports and exports.
- NSTCC is designed to support three dimensions of trade governance: Integrated Monitoring, Performance Assessment, and Evidence-Based Policy Inputs.
- While reviewing the SCOMET (Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment and Technologies) dashboard, Goyal called for regular Inter-Ministerial Committee meetings, weekly if required, to clear pending applications expeditiously.
- NSTCC leverages existing digital infrastructure including DGFT systems and the Trade Connect ePlatform, and is envisaged to evolve into a whole-of-government decision-support mechanism with phased access for ministries, states and Export Promotion Councils.
