Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Launches Zero-Commission Bharat Taxi and Farmer Loan Scheme

Key facts

• Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Bharat Taxi service and the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana in Lucknow.
• Under Bharat Taxi, two-wheeler, taxi and three-wheeler drivers can register on zero commission and receive social security cover of ₹5 lakh.
• Bharat Taxi operations have started in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Prayagraj, with MOUs signed with Lucknow Airport, Lucknow Metro and Lucknow Police.
• Under Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, the interest rate on loans from the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Gramya Vikas Bank has been reduced from 11% to 6%.
• The scheme targets providing benefits to five lakh small and marginal farmers in the coming years.
• In 2017, the Uttar Pradesh government waived loans worth more than ₹36,000 crore for 86 lakh small and marginal farmers.
• Of 16 cooperative banks in Uttar Pradesh that became inactive before 2017, 15 have returned to profit.
