Pune Defeats Netherlands to Win Right to Host 2032 UCI Road World Cycling Championships

• Pune, India has won the bid to host the Road World Cycling Championships in 2032, becoming the first Indian city to get the event, after defeating the Netherlands.
• The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) awarded the 2032 championships to Pune and the 2033 edition jointly to Groningen and Drenthe in the Netherlands, with the bid ceremony held in Montreal, Canada.
• The UCI has approved a route of 270 km for the World meet, with almost 70% of the route falling within Pune city limits.
• Pune became the first Indian city to host the Pune Grand Tour (PGT), a UCI 2.2 race, in January 2026, and the World Championships bid was backed by the state as well as central governments.
• Maharashtra district collector Jitendra Dudi, who planned and executed the first Pune Grand Tour edition, attended the bid event in Montreal.
• UCI president David Lappartient announced the decision, and Cycling Federation of India secretary general Maninder Pal Singh said the 2032 championships would be the biggest World Championships ever.
