• On 3 November 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for Pune Metro projects worth around ₹21,800 crore through video conferencing.
• The newly inaugurated Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar corridor connects a major IT hub of Pune, while the new foundation-stone line will link the old and new parts of the city.
• The newly inaugurated Pune metro corridor was constructed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
• India's metro network has expanded to nearly 1,200 kilometers across 26 cities over the past 12 years, serving over one crore daily commuters and ranking among the top three metro networks in the world.
