Digi Yatra Launches International Passenger Trials at Seven Indian Airports for 2027 Rollout
Exam-focused facts from the 1 November 2026 current affairs briefing.
Key facts
- Digi Yatra has commenced trials for international passengers at seven airports — Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Mumbai, Chennai and Amritsar — running from November to December 2026.
- Eligible Indian nationals holding e-passports can use Digi Yatra on select international flights operated by Air India and IndiGo at terminal entry points, Security Hold Areas and boarding gates.
- Passengers must create an e-passport-based Verifiable Credential through the Digi Yatra app by scanning the passport's Machine Readable Zone, reading the chip via NFC, capturing a selfie and verifying details; the facility complements, and does not replace, existing travel and immigration processes.
- Feedback from the trials will inform a wider rollout planned for 2027.
- The Digi Yatra platform has over 26.5 million users and has enabled more than 110 million journeys across 39 domestic airports, with 25 more domestic airports planned by 2027.
