DRDO Successfully Tests Quantum Key Distribution Platform in Live Network at PXE Chandipur
Exam-focused facts from the 14 October 2026 current affairs briefing.
Key facts
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully configured and tested a Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) platform in the live network of the dynamic test ranges at Proof & Experimental Establishment (PXE), Chandipur.
- The QKD platform will fortify real-time critical observations and telemetry associated with Artillery and Armoured Weapon tests and evaluation.
- The QKD platform was designed and developed under DRDO's Microelectronic Devices, Computational Systems & Cyber Security (MCC) cluster with production partner Taqbit Labs.
- QKD uses quantum mechanical properties to generate and distribute cryptographic keying material and can detect eavesdropping, a feature not provided in standard cryptography.
- DRDO is developing such technologies through Defence-Industry-Academia Centres of Excellence (DIA-CoEs), with 15 Centres of Excellence established at institutes like the IITs, IISc and universities.
