Supreme Court Collegium Approves 12 Additional Judges as Permanent Judges in Four High Courts

• The Supreme Court Collegium, comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Vikram Nath and B V Nagarathna, approved 12 additional judges as permanent judges in the high courts of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Uttarakhand and Gauhati at its meeting held on September 23, 2026.
• Five judges were approved for permanent appointment to the Andhra Pradesh High Court: Justices Maheswara Rao Kuncheam @ Kuncham, Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar @ T.C.D. Sekhar, Challa Gunaranjan, Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Dr. Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao.
• Five judges were approved for permanent appointment to the Kerala High Court: Justices P Krishna Kumar, KV Jayakumar, Muralee Krishna S, Jobin Sebastian and PV Balakrishnan.
• Justice Subhash Upadhyay was approved as a permanent judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, and Justice Kaushik Goswami as a permanent judge of the Gauhati High Court.
