Premier Energies Starts 7 GW Solar Cell Plant in Andhra Pradesh, India’s Largest

• Premier Energies has commissioned a 7 GW solar cell manufacturing facility at Naidupeta in Andhra Pradesh, described as India's largest solar cell manufacturing plant, taking its total solar cell capacity to 10.6 GW.
• The N-type TOPCon G12R plant is built across 101 acres at a capital expenditure of ₹3,293 crore and has begun trial runs.
• The facility targets an average solar cell efficiency of about 25.8% once stabilised and is designed for upgrades to next-generation TOPCon+ technologies.
• Premier Energies is undertaking a ₹12,500 crore capital expenditure programme over three years, including expansion into ingot and wafer production and diversification into inverters, transformers and battery energy storage systems.
• The plant uses automated material handling systems, digital systems and artificial intelligence for predictive performance analysis, and has a Zero Liquid Discharge system for water recycling.
• India's government targets 500 GW of installed non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070.
