PM Vishwakarma Scheme Registers 30 Lakh Artisans in Three Years with Training, Loans and Toolkits

Key facts

• The PM Vishwakarma Scheme, launched in September 2023 by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, has registered 30 lakh artisans across 18 identified trades in its first three years of operation.
• 24.50 lakh Vishwakarmas have received basic skill training from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship under the scheme.
• 6.18 lakh artisans have received loans of up to one lakh rupees each at a concessional 5 per cent annual interest rate, totalling 5,297 crore rupees.
• 18.15 lakh modern toolkits have been delivered to artisans through India Post.
• The scheme provides certificates and identity cards, skill training, modern tools, access to loans, and support for digital payments and marketing to traditional craftspeople.
• The third anniversary milestone will be celebrated on 17 September 2026 in Kolkata, with Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari attending.
• In West Bengal, the scheme was onboarded in May 2026, with 3,000 beneficiaries already registered and skill training underway for them.
