Indian Railways has approved ₹223 crore for deploying Kavach Version 4.0 across 614.75 route kilometres of the Varanasi division of North Eastern Railway.
Kavach is an indigenously developed automatic train protection (ATP) system that helps prevent signal passing at danger (SPAD), automatically applies brakes when required and monitors train movement.
The project will extend Kavach 4.0 coverage to the remaining identified sections of the Varanasi division, strengthening train protection infrastructure across the network.
