India Hosts 43rd Coast Guard Commanders’ Conference at New Delhi Headquarters from 17 to 19 September 2026

• The 43rd edition of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Commanders’ Conference, the Service’s apex annual forum for 2026, was held at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi, from 17 to 19 September 2026.
• Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth addressed the ICG’s senior leadership at the official opening of the conference.
• The three-day conference, billed as the ICG’s highest-level professional forum, covered current and emerging maritime security challenges, operational readiness and resource deployment, and a roadmap for capability enhancement and force modernisation.
• The conference reviewed ongoing initiatives to bolster indigenisation under the Make in India programme, in alignment with the Government’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
• A Request for Information is in progress for ten Medium Altitude Long Endurance drones for the ICG’s Aviation Wing, aimed at extending surveillance reach across the exclusive economic zone.
• Shipyards and design houses met at Coast Guard Headquarters in July to convert broad qualitative requirements into measurable specifications for future Special Role and Multi-role platforms.
• The ICG was raised in 1977, and 2027 marks the completion of its golden jubilee.
