Defence Minister Rajnath Singh flagged in the First Ascent Mountaineering Expedition on September 25, 2026, which summited 20 unclimbed peaks above 6,000 meters in Ladakh in 23 days.
The first-ever recorded summits of 20 unclimbed peaks were in the Chamser-Lungser, Gyama Nala and Chokula areas of the Ladakh Range.
The expedition was undertaken by a team of 20 climbers from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), Dirang, led by Col Ranveer Singh Jamwal.
