Bhupender Yadav Launches Mangrove GIS Portal at Workshop in Bhuj, Gujarat

• Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav launched the Mangrove GIS portal while reviewing Gujarat's mangrove conservation efforts at a workshop on Mangrove Conservation, Restoration and Sustainable Management held in Bhuj, Kachchh on September 13, 2026.
• At the workshop, Yadav stressed the need for scientific, site-specific and community-led approaches to mangrove conservation, describing mangroves as living ecosystems vital for coastal biodiversity, fisheries, shoreline protection, climate resilience and livelihoods.
• On the same day at Bhuj, Yadav also chaired a review meeting covering conservation of the critically endangered Great Indian Bustard (GIB), grassland restoration and Project Cheetah, stressing conservation through restoring entire landscapes via scientific management and habitat restoration.
