Assam Sets January 1, 2027 Deadline for Fully Paperless e-Office Across Government Offices

• The Assam government has set January 1, 2027, as the deadline for all government offices in the state to transition to a paperless e-Office system, announced by the Chief Minister's Office on September 23, 2026.
• The e-Office platform, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), is already used across the Assam Secretariat, with all 58 departments using the system and implementation extending to select directorates and Deputy Commissioners' offices.
• The e-Office system replaces paper-based file handling with electronic workflows, enabling digital receipt of documents, electronic file movement, online drafting, digital signing, archiving, and tracking of file status.
