ARAI's Pune Cylinder Testing Facility Receives NABL Accreditation

Key facts

• The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) received ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for its new Cylinder Testing Facility at the Mobility Research Centre, Takwe, Pune.
• The facility tests Type I to Type IV high-pressure gaseous cylinders for CNG, HCNG, hydrogen (up to 700 bar), oxygen, nitrogen and inert gases, serving automotive, industrial, marine, defence and space sectors.
• Key tests include hydrostatic, pressure cycling, permeation, burst, bonfire, drop, mechanical and environmental durability testing.
• The facility can support validation requirements under the Automotive Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme and reduce reliance on overseas testing facilities.
• ARAI director Dr Reji Mathai said the accreditation establishes a standards-based quality framework and expands domestic testing capacity for high-pressure gas cylinders.
